Luke Ridnour has contributed off the bench
November 22nd, 2009 | by adamburnett |With the addition of Brandon Jennings to the team, Luke Ridnour’s role this offseason was undetermined. Many fans wanted him shown the door and Ramon Sessions signed to an extension. Ridnour lost playing time to Sessions last season for a myriad of reasons. Sessions did a better job of setting up his teammates and aggressively took the ball into the paint. The Oregon product has really helped the Bucks so far this season. He’s scored in double figures in 6 games so far this season. The veteran point guard has given the Bucks a solid option off the bench that’s capable of taking some of the pressure off of Brandon Jennings. Ridnour has served as the Marty Janetty to Brandon Jennings-Shawn Michaels. I have been impressed with his ability as a spot up shooter. A career 34 percent shooter from downtown has shot 38 percent this season.
Having Jennings and Ridnour on the floor at the same time allows the Bucks to attack teams with a smaller lineup and play more of an up-tempo game. The Bucks can force teams to adjust to this smaller lineup. I would like to see more of the two point guards on the floor to close games out. He’s a career 85 percent shooter from the charity stripe and gives the team another solid option to help close out the game. The 103-98 win over Memphis he had 13 points, 12 assists, 4 boards, and 1 steal. The Bucks have a 4 game week and start in San Antonio on Monday then play in New Orleans on Wednesday, Oklahoma City on Friday and host Orlando on Saturday.
